Great for shady areas, Leucothe fontanesiana (Doghobble) is a beautiful addition to the garden. Glossy, multi-colored leaves can be found on different varieties of this lovely shrub. it tolerates clay soils and is relatively easy to care for. It prefers sheltered areas, so it’s at home in foundation beds where structures protect it from the elements.

This plant is deer resistant as it is highly toxic and not great for gardens frequented by cats and dogs.
