Porteranthus trifoliatus 'Pink Profusion'
Bowman’s Root
Q U I C K T I P S
Porteranthus trifoliatus 'Pink Profusion' (Bowman’s Root) was discovered by and graces the formal garden at Mt. Cuba Center in Delaware. The delicate flowers of Porteranthus trifoliatus 'Pink Profusion' (Bowman’s Root) are reminiscent of Gaura lindheimeri (Bee Blossom) yet are held upright on sturdy, reddish stems with reddish-green leaves in warmer months. In the fall the leaves turn a vibrant red as the plant prepares for winter.
Great when grown in masses in a sunny, mixed perennial bed or at the edges of woodland gardens. Great for areas with deer pressure as deer don’t want to eat it. Important pollinators are attracted to the airy pink blossoms of this beautiful native perennial.
