Amsonia tabernaemontana (Bluestar) is one of the first perennials to bloom in early spring. The ‘Storm Cloud’ variety has rich, dark shoots that arise as early as April with chartreuse green leaves that display a stunning contrast with the dark grey stems. Early buds give rise to periwinkle blue flowers that captivate in the early spring garden.
Amsonia tabernaemontana contributes to a lush perennial garden throughout the warm season and provides a beautiful backdrop with sword-shaped, bright green foliage that contrasts well with front of the bed perennials such as Coreopsis verticillata (Threadleaf Tickseed) or Asclepias tuberosa (Butterfly Weed).
